Other bits and bobs from Saturdays filming session
While we did the bouncer footage, we also felt it would be a good idea to have some footage of a bottle of lager being dropped/smashed because it helps tell us what is going on in the video.
More Editing
Following on from our narrative filming on Saturday morning. We came into college to put the footage on the timeline.

Filming the Bouncer
It's a Saturday morning and i'm just waiting for the goons to turn up, then we can meet Nathan (Bouncer) at the Masons Arms in Waterfoot, then we begin filming. (8:26am).
With the narrative shots now finished (we hope), we feel optimistic that the finished product will be a success. We feel the bouncer scene was a success as everything came together nicely. We filmed Nathan basically shouting at Calum outside a pub and then throw a punch. We filmed this using over the shoulder shot of Calum looking at the bouncer. We also filmed a point of view shot of Calum being punched.

Album covers (update)
With our two album cover drafts being a rather unsuccessful, Cameron has tried to do a better job. The initial idea was to have mug shots of the four of us.
However the albums covers don't represent our ideas. Cameron picture especially is more of a mid shot rather than the close up which we ideally need.
Editing
With our music video coming together nicely, Cameron has been doing a great job at editing it and putting narrative shots in the appropreate places. The editing software we have used in this process is Adobe Premier Pro. While editing our music video on this programme we have used several different editing techniques such as;different dissolves. We have made our video black and white.
Album Cover (draft 2)
Here is our second draft of our album cover, which Kyle put together. Compared to the first draft, this one has a black background as our preference. We chose big bold white writing which will corospond with the background better and it will also be the focal point of the album cover.
More filming
On Tuesday afternoon, we continued filming our performance shots, we got footage of the band performing, indiviual shots of Cameron playing bass guitar and Andy on the drums. We got several different angles of band members including a birds eye view shot on Andy on the drums, mid shots of Cameron and close ups on the fret board of the bass guitar.

Overall this isn't far away from what we want, it just needs to be more of a mug shot fashion which we orginally planned.

Narrative filming
On Monday morning, we began filming the narrative shots with a lad returning from a night out. We did all of the shots in the Rossendale area. We filmed Calum playing the lad on the night out, stumbling through the front door, then collapsing in bed. We are going to film some more narrative shots later this week. Including footage of Calum inside a taxi.
We have now got the taxi footage, we filmed with different angles of a POV shot of the taxi driver and a close up profile shot of Calum swearing at the taxi driver. We shot this footage in Burnley.
This picture shows Calum and Cameron reviewing the shot footage.

Filming
I began to get footage of people outside clubs/pubs for our narrative shots. I managed to get a groups of lads outside Queens in Rawtenstall. I also tried other places around Rossendale, however it seemed very quiet so didn't get as much footage/shots as I would have liked.
I will however, try later on in the week to try and get better shots. I wasn't happy with the lack of photos I managed to get.
We also began shooting some band footage. We borrowed the drum set from the music department at college. The guitar I happily provided.

One week on, and we have really started making some progress, we have been getting some more band shots in of Calum and myself. I have also continued filming around Rossendale and Burnley to try and get as many shots of people outsides pubs and clubs etc.

Album Artwork Concept
We have been looking at various artworks, and we all seem keen on the idea of having an album like this one. This Blur's Best Of album. We have talked about having a album covers based around mugshots holding signs etc. We seem keen on a concept like this because our narrative is based on somebody on a night out, who manages to get into a scrap resulting in him getting a few bumps and bruises on his face.
We will use this on our album cover, with us in each corner on the album cover with bruises and bumps on our faces to make it look like we have been fighting. The idea is to have us all holding a sign with the song title and band name.
Album Cover Analysis (Album 2)
SUBJECT- This is the album cover of the Razorlights self-titled album. The main image if the band stabding alongside each other being exactly the same height in the image therefore showing that each member of the band is important as the other.
ARTIST- The band is dressed in the conventional clothing for this certain genre. E.g. Skinny jeans, long hair styles etc.
COMPOSITION- The artwork comes across very basic, yet eye-catching because of the bands name in big bold black letters.
FONT- The font on the album cover is very eye-catching, simply because of the big bold black letter on a white background.
COLOUR AND LIGHTING- A black and white album cover, a very typical British indie band artwork.
To a certain degree, this is rather similar to the last analysis which was the Kaiser Chiefs debut album "Employment". They're both very basic in terms of detail, yet they're both capture the eye because of the colours and lightings used on the artworks. Yet they both show completely different aspects of the band.

Album Cover Analysis (Album 1)
This album cover is only very basic, it doesn't really have any form of imagination, it doesn't neccesarily strike out at you when you look at it. However it does have a very orginal feel to it. Most Kaiser Chiefs album covers are very similar, they don't have much detail in them.
Subject- It is obvious that majority of the album artwork goes on the positioning, font, colours angles etc. There isn't a lot of detail within the cover, therefore it does look very amateurish.
Artist- There isn't a picture of the band on the album cover, however the focal point of the artwork is the band name.
Composition- It is vitally important that the artwork is eye catching for any potential buyers. Therefore the fonts, colours, sizes etc have to be spot on.
Font- The font on the album comes across very basic, it is important that any fonts on album artworks are simple yet effective, which this one is.
Colour and Lighting- The colour is the crucial decision on an album artwork. On this artwork, the black is the main colour on the album, but with the correct blend of yellow. and hints of white on the outside of the cover it helps it become more eye-catching.

More performance shots.
After concentrating on narrative shots in our recent media lessons, we also have plenty of performance footage to get through. On Monday morning we filmed Cameron playing the bass guitar. With niether of us owning a bass guitar, we asked a local band from our college and they happily let us borrow it. We used many different shots for Cameron, including medium close ups and side shots of the bass allowing the camera to see down the bass' fret board.

Shooting Schedule

We are currently in discussions regarding our shooting schedule. We have agreed our shooting locations and now we are deciding when we are going to begin shooting.
We have been given the go ahead to use borrow the props what we will need e.g. Bass guitar, drums, microphones, guitars. So shooting should begin imminently.
I will update this post once we have started shooting.

Contacting the Arctic Monkeys
Since we are using an Arctic Mokeys track, to prevent the use of copyright we have to get in touch with the band via email, Facebook, twitter etc to ask their permission for us to use their track.
We contacted the band through their official Facebook page. We are currently awaiting a response, which will hopefully be soon.

Storyboard Narrative (Draft)
Our unfinished version of the narrative. Some pictures are used more than once for the time being simply because we having got all the pictures yet. Obviously the narrative is difficult to work out because not all the pictures have been added. However, we hope to have another version in the next day or two.
Naming the band
After failing to convince my mates band Kelly's Hereo's and Kyle being too much of a wimp to ask the college band, so we were stuck for who to ask, so we have decided that we are going to perform the song ourselves. Despite me not being keen on the idea, I do genuinally think it might actually be a lot of fun. We have been talking about what roles we are going to take in the band.
Calum Crummet- Singer
Robbie Coppack- Guitar
"Kylie B what a minter"- Drums
Obviously we are now in discussions regarding a band name. Some suggestions have been absolutely appalling and sometimes I want absolutely nothing to do with them. However they're are a couple what we are seriously considering. The one in particular is "Quiet Game". We all seem quite keen on, which is a shock because we never seem to agree with anything. Lol
Other band names considered..

The Pitches
The Pitch
2. Our second pitch would be a parody video of the Wizard of Oz. We would cover the Arctic Monkeys old yellow bricks in costumes from the film (Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man and Lion). It would be a humorous video shoot on green screen using clips from the film as the background. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLaeOrDmWQ4&safe=active
3. The third pitch would be a "Bitter Sweet Symphony" style video where we would have the lead singer lip sinking Oasis's "Acquiesce" as he walks through the busy streets of the town centre. We would use rewind and fast forward edits on the video to give the effect of time passing and going slower we would also use different colour tints on the lens to make the viewer feel different emotions as they are watching. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09zBftEqBN0&safe=active
- We would use the track "Ritz to the Rubble" by the Arctic Monkeys as this fits in with our genre and does not have an original video. There would be two narratives the first would be our band singing the song in a black and white edit using different colours to make the instruments stand out. We would also close up on individual members of the band and get shots from different angles of them playing. The second narrative would be the lead singer walking home from a rough night out with a black eye and a ripped up shirt, this would go with the song as it is all about the day after the night out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTSaUYSyvqI&safe=active

Band Choices
As a group with have been in discussion regarding which track and band we would like to use. We agreed that we wanted to take the Brit Indie route, so we have been researching various music videos and songs from; Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, Stone Roses etc.
Oasis- An English band formed in Manchester, one of the most successful bands in the 90's. Formed by two brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher.
Arctic Monkeys- Formed in Sheffield, their debut album "Whatever People Say I Am, Thats What I'm Not" became the fastest selling debut album in the UK.
Stone Roses- Formed in Manchester in the early 80's, their debut album is suggested as being the greatest album of all time.

Genres/ Image
There are various amounts of different genres in the music industry,
Every band always have a different image. For example Rap and Hip Hop is a stereotypical black man genre. With over-sized shirts and jeans lower than their backside with lots of bling hanging from their necks, this is a genre what I consider awful. Examples of Rap music is Eminem, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent etc.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qm8PH4xAss&safe=active
An example of a Rock n Roll band is AC/DC. The look of a typical rock n roll is shoulder length hair
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAgnJDJN4VA&safe=active
Heavy Metal
Heavy metal bands again more often than not have long hair, dark, black clothing and are known for their heavy drinking and drug abusing. An example of a heavy metal band is Metallica. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzgGTTtR0kc&safe=active
Brit Indie
Indie music consists of the "mod style", the mod style is described as Fred Perry tops and desert boots with tight-fitting shirts, striped t-shirts, cycling tops and hipster trousers all becoming part of the mod look. Oasis, Kasabian, Snow Patrol, Arctic Monkeys etc are all examples of Brit indie music.

Music Video Ideas
I have suggested perhaps filming "Kelly's Heroes" doing a live concert. I think if we have two or three cameras between us, and some permission we could easily work with it. I think it would be best we if then edited it and put the original studio sound rather than a live sound, which could potentially sound shitty.
I also think using go pro camera would be benficial because I think it would give our music video a different style. I haven't watched many music videos with them being used. I originally got the idea after watching a music video of a band called Hacktivist. There self made video to their track "Niggas in Paris" used various live footage with go pro cameras being featured numerous time. I feel this gives it a unique look.

Research into Music Artist (Kelly's Heroes)

In terms of an image, they don't really have one, the genre of music they play can be mixed from; The Kinks, The Who, Jimmy Hendrix to The Black Keys. However they have also written their own songs.
